Established in 1969 Spafco Pty Ltd is a subsidary entity of the Olympic Group of Companies. Specialising in the finishing of Aluminium products. Spafco is one of the first companies to offer Aluminium finishing services in Australia. Spafco has carved a name for itself in the industry as a company that prides itself on delivering high quality Aluminium finishes.

What is powder coating?

Powder coating is the coating of a Metal or Aluminium product with a polyester or epoxy free flowing powder then treating it with a heat process to produce a durable evenly coated surface. This process allows for a colour of your choice coating that is resilient to corrosion, abrasion and everyday regular abrasive usage. Increasing the life of the product coated.

Why Spafco Powder Coat?

One chooses powder coat to increase an Aluminium surfaces ability to withstand corrosion, chipping, scratching, oxidization and overall increase the surfaces strength to withstand everyday elements and damage due to usage. Spafco is an approved applicator of standard and high performance powdercoat products from both the Dulux and Interpon ranges. Spafco powder coating is performed in accordance to the relevant Australian Standard and the manufacturer recommended application process as specified in our standard operating procedures manual.

Aluminium alloys are anodized to increase resistance to oxidization and surface abrasion as well as giving an enhanced choice of long life colouring. The anodic layer is non-conductive. In its natural form when exposed to oxygen Aluminium begins oxidization, to prevent this a controlled process is used to treat the Aluminium where a protective oxide layer is applied by an electrolytic process in which the Aluminium forms the anode. Aluminium alloy parts are anodized to greatly increase the thickness of this layer for corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of aluminium alloys is significantly decreased by certain alloying elements or impurities: copper, iron, and silicon.
